Volunteer Staff

Improving the selection process for student volunteers as staff members is essential, considering instances where lack of experience led to mishaps. However, there's disagreement whether hiring staff instead of relying on volunteers would be more effective. Here's the reasonings for both arguments:

Improving Volunteer Staff

Some staff generally have no clue for some things that are frequently asked, one example would be when I asked someone if Workshop/Panel stubs can be claimed at any time, then I was told that they arent sure. Even if the staff isnt assigned to the area, I think It'd be good to have like some notes on possible answers or just have some way to contact the Help Desk. Apparently some staff even doesnt know how to separate Premium with Regular ticket holders.

As for volunteers I think there needs to be better screening for volunteers if volunteers are joining but not doing work they shouldnt have been accepted as volunteers in the first place

Which I also agree with, I think the screening process should be more strict, and the volunteers should be more informed about the event.

Hiring Staff

Some users argue that hiring staff instead of relying on volunteers would be more effective.

Nanashi#3542 adds:

wouldnt be more efficient to just hire staff and to ensure they are doing their jobs? since some volunteers are just fucking around the venue and doing absolutely fucking nothing

Which is also a good point, since hiring staff would ensure that the people with experience can be more helpful but it would also cause the event more money.
